A common myth is a ½ ton truck is rated to carry 1000 lbs, a ¾ ton is rated to carry 1500 lbs and a 1 ton is rated to carry 2000 lbs. If you look up the specifications you will find the actual payload ratings are 100’s of pounds higher than the category of the truck.
