Tips To Clean Your Travel Trailer

Featured image for Tips To Clean Your Travel TrailerIt’s that time of the year when you want to bring out your travel trailer from storage and hit the road with your family. But remember, dirt, grime, and dust have probably crept into your RV and rendered it unclean and unhygienic.

Camping in Style is your preferred RV dealership in Ontario, and we have gathered a few tips below to help you make your RV look its best.

Start With The Exterior

A clean exterior will help turn heads on the road and at the campground and extend the lifespan of your travel trailer.

Start by rinsing the dirt and debris with a hose and use a mild cleaning solution to remove the grime. You can use a soft brush for scrubbing your vehicle's surface, especially any stubborn stains. You also want to clean the awnings, slide-outs, and undercarriage areas and rinse your camper thoroughly to remove any soapy residue.

Focus on Your Windows

Next, clean up your travel trailer’s doors and windows to allow natural light to stream inside. Use a glass cleaner and a soft cloth to cleanse the windows, both inside and outside, and remove any screens and wash them, too. The idea is to make your camper spotless and neat before you hit the road.

Scrub Your Floors & Upholstery

A clean travel trailer should have a squeaky-clean floor, regardless of whether it’s laminated or carpeted. You want to vacuum and/or mop your camper’s floor to remove dirt, crumbs, and pet hair. But remember to use an appropriate cleaning solution and follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning your vehicle thoroughly. You can also use your vacuum cleaner to clean the upholstery—but remember to use the correct attachment for your furniture to prevent damage.

Make Your Kitchen & Bathroom Sparkle

Your travel trailer’s kitchen and bathroom can quickly accumulate dirt and grime. Ensure you keep these areas clean and hygienic for safe and comfortable travels.

Ideally, clean your countertops, stovetops, sinks, and faucets with appropriate cleaning products and sanitize cutting boards and kitchen utensils. You also want to empty and clean the refrigerator, microwave, and oven after each trip or when storing your travel trailer for an extended duration. When cleaning your bathroom, use a dedicated bathroom cleaner for the toilet, sink, and shower, then scrub and rinse these areas thoroughly.
